Die Neustarts
Es ist inzwischen Tradition, dass am Wochenende vor Halloween ein Saw-Film
anläuft. Der finanzielle Höhepunkt der Serie ist schon
überschritten und keine noch so erfolgreiche Serie ist vor drastischen
Einbrüchen sicher, wie z.B. der Drop der Nightmare on Elm Street-Serie
vom vierten ($49 Mio.) zum fünften Film ($22 Mio.) zeigt. Tatsächlich
eröffnete Saw VI mit $14,1 Mio. in 3.036 Kinos
deutlich unter den Vorgängern - Teil III-V erzielten allesamt Starttage
über der $14 Mio.-Marke. Diesmal blieb das gesamte WE darunter..

Nach Wolkig mit Aussicht auf Fleischbällchen, 9
und den Toy Story-Filmen gibt es mit Astroboy einen
weiteren CGI-Trickfilm in dieser Saison, der allerdings mit $6,7 Mio. in 3.014 Kinos
keine große Rolle spielte.
Es ist nie ein gutes Zeichen wenn ein Film lange auf Halde
liegt und auch die Nähe zu Halloween und der überraschend breite Start in
2.754 Kinos konnte
Mitternachtszirkus - Willkommen in der Welt der Vampire
nicht helfen, es wurden lediglich $6,3 Mio. eingenommen.
Eigentlich galt Mira Nairs Amelia mit
Hilary Swank,
Richard Gere und
Ewan McGregor als
Oscar-Hoffnung, aber die schwachen Kritiken dürften diesen Traum zerstört
haben - kein Wunder, dass der deutsche Verleih den Film, der in den USA in
818 Häusern $3,9 Mio. einnahm, in den Juni verlegt hat...
Ebenfalls
Tradition vor Halloween ist die Wiederaufführung der 3D-Fassung
von
Tim Burtons Nightmare Before Christmas, die
diesmal in 105 Theatern zu sehen ist.
